You asked, how did we go from Julie to the swamp and MIDCOR.

Julie is the swamp; she is neck deep in the swamp and will always be.

If she does decide to become a candidate for Madison Mayor we at the Free Press have a detailed list of all her votes for or against as a commissioner and the amount of dollar damage she caused to Jefferson County...

Main St Madison doesn't support Main St. They support 2 or three businesses over and over and have their banquet across the river in KY. They are the joke of downtown.

The Madison Main Street Program won a $1000. Grant for a plan to celebrate “downtown development”. Funded by OCRA 5 rural towns submitted ideas. 25 applicants applied. The total cost to tax payers for all awards is 5thousand. Madison plans “ a week of action-packed events for community members and visitors to learn and appreciate downtown Madison’s history and architecture. Events include a window display contest, special menus at downtown restaurants, a pumpkin carving contest as well, as a Micro-Mini-Marathon, which encourages people to dress in costume.” Congrats to Main Street - enjoy your party.”

The term Gang of Eight dates back to the mynette boykin scam, where a group of businesses fought a dirty back door campaign to give a con artist $5 million dollars and the 60 acre city owned industrial park and build a building for her. As each of her plans changed from solar panels to wind generators, to controls to whatever, it became apparent to the public that she and locals were in on some kind of con. The leader of those in industry was the person in charge of Rotary Lift. It came to a head at a council meeting when he and the head of Madison Chemical went before the council to try to push the scam thru. Jim Lee and Darrell Henderson had both done their homework and put sunshine on mynette's scam.
The poor little not-so-smart head of Midcor was the scapegoat ("he did it, we Gang of Eight didn't know what he was doing";) he was fired. Also the Gang of Eight changed the name from Midcor to JCIDC in hopes that the public was dumb and would forget. The only dumb ones was the city and county councils/commissioners. The commissioner woke up and cut off funding, the city council still giddily gives Midcor our tax dollars for the purpose of stifling growth.
A group of eight businesses proclaimed themselves to be the "industry leaders" in Madison, wrote a long error-filled letter to the editor and became laughing stocks in the city. From the 8 businesses and the fact that a group of Chinese leaders called themselves the Gang of Eight, that title was given to those "industry leaders". Side note: Just as in China where that Gang of Eight stifled all freedoms in China, if you read the manifesto of our Gang of Eight, they proclaimed themselves superior to the citizens of Madison and know what is best for them (the citizens), where in fact what they were pushing then and still do, they are pushing what is best for them. The two bests are in know way the same.

Admin reply: This gang of eight (G-8) thing is hard to understand but I’ll give my two cents worth.

It all began way back in the late 1800’s early 1900’ when Howard Binkley an economics professor at Hanover College recruited a group of business men of Madison to form the Economic Development group called the Frontliners. The sole purpose of the Frontliners was for the then business men to protect their business and labor pool from anyone coming to Madison with a new business or product that may affect their very own protected enterprise.

The Frontliners still exist today. It’s like some secret club organized to keep new business from coming to Madison that may somehow be in compotation with their product and their ability to keep their work pool wages low.

This thing morphed into MIDCOR which was brought back to life by Al Huntington and John Eckert.(explaining Huntingtons purpose can be seen at First and Vernon Streets). Under Huntingtons rule we ended up with much confusion in ”who held the power in Madison” “who controlled every dollar” coming into or going out of Madison and “who was/is allowed to come here”.

It would take many pages to go into detail of the dirty deeds of the Frontliners and todays MIDCOR, Swamp, G-8.

The Swamp is so deep with thievery, corruption and scum it would take days to get to the bottom of this group of people.

Some of the past members of the Frontliners: Richard Johnson, Robert Brittingham,

I know many have asked the status of the county council nomination for the city economic development board. You may remember there was disappointment concerning the mayors back door efforts to get Republican chair Bob Courtney appointed. A letter was sent to council members politely pointing out the council could nominate but the mayor was the only one who could approve & appoint. I am told there was substantial back door pressure to appoint Courtney. For some unknown reason council decided to roll over & play dead & did as the mayor instructed them to do. They appointed Courtney.

Additional disappointment for citizens was not just the back door discussions & the political manipulation but the fact that neither the mayor nor any member of council had even bothered to see if Courtney was qualified or eligible to serve on a board that makes decisions about tax dollars & city debt. It was a citizen who quietly & respectfully notified the mayor personally & explained to him the problems with Courtney's nomination/appointment. Courtney was ineligible to serve on the economic board & another board on which he sits. He could only serve on one or the other. Courtney was also battling a DUI charge in another county. Subsequently, the council rescinded their nomination for Courtney & would need to submit another name for consideration.

Dave Adams volunteered after the city approached him & encouraged him to go to council & ask to serve. But this time county council did their duty & looked for a candidate that would represent all county citizens, gather facts & not "cave" to mayoral pressure to make decisions which might be bad for all county residents. The council spent a great deal of time considering various persons. In the end they did not select Dave Adams but instead choose Mike Pittman. IMO, they made an excellent choice. Mike is not liked by everyone in the city (who is?) but he is intelligent, courteous, experienced, comfortable speaking publicly even when his comments may be perceived as negative and takes his board appointments seriously. So congrats to county council on a strong nomination- lets hope the mayor approves.

There was one no vote- Judy Smith - who was vocal about her desire to see Dave appointed "for all the good he has done for the community". (apparently she missed the grant falsification fiasco & is unaware of various issues surrounding local charities for which he volunteers but was removed from boards) None the less, most citizens would agree Dave is a nice guy but they would also say that officials should select persons who are most qualified to serve on important boards rather than use those important appointments as some sort of reward for a person being nice.

So now we wait to see if the mayor will approve Mike's nomination. If not the council will start over. But if you happen to run into any of your council representatives thank them for taking the time & working to find a good appointment rather than just obey the mayor. In the next few weeks JB will likely showcase various candidates & is asking for information on each person. I am doing my best to contact various candidates so that I can relay accurate & fair information when the time comes. In the mean time: Judy Smith is running against Mike Armstrong. For those of you in that area you might want to check with both Judy and Mike as to there philosophy on board appointments. its a beautiful day in Madison Indiana- I hope you can enjoy it. Tami

You are absolutely correct. Two sayings my granny always used could be applied to Jules. “ never ruin an apology with an excuse” and “tell me who you run with and I’ll tell you what you are.” The early filing could be because there is a lot of garbage laying around that needs to be cleaned up.

People lie all the time. They blame others and pretend to be stupid when they aren’t. Really liars are just lazy or cowardly or both. Julie knew the rules, she just didn’t think they applied to her. She will say again and again she’s done nothing wrong. She’ll blame others for her poor conduct and say it’s “their” fault. She’ll pick one or two people to really assault and direct all her anger at that/those persons as a way to distract from the truth. Julie Berry is like so many liars; she uses people to get what she wants and doesn’t care what damage she causes. Some people change,’others just slide into their own lies and never find the truth again. They become a habitual liar and expect
everyone else to play along with their ideas and if they don’t then it’s the honest person who she treats with so much disdain it’ll make your head spin.

Reading the interview with Julie Berry has left me with some questions. She states she was part of a group that brought Arvin Sango and MPP to Madison because she knows how to “seal the deal.” What is the group she is referring to ? Is she running on a platform of attracting businesses and creating jobs ? She touts her political experience as a strength. Can anyone name a positive accomplishment that she could claim as her own ? Is it possible for a government employee who works for an entity which distributes tax dollars to not be informed of the Hatch Act ?
