I’m disappointed. I’m a downtown shop owner and My business has never, not once benefited from VMI or the old CVB. I’m in favor of everything JCBT is doing and hope the county comes up with some other idea. Our businesses have done the work to grow tourism not VMI and certainly not Ms Prasil. I don’t spend much but I’ve averaged just over $ 5,330. each year for marketing in the 15 years I’ve been in business. More than 8 thousand in the last five. I don’t know a single business without a Facebook page and the vast majority have websites and many Instagram. Saying tourism will die without VMI is a huge slap in the face Bob.

Tried to watch the video, they so called expert is full of double talk. Tourism this and tourism that.
If this person is the true expert today then she also needs to be held accountable for yesterday, last week , last year.
Can she please explain how all the food that has been purchased for the staff Helps tourism?

What are her True credentials as being an expert?

I wish the County would foot the bill for Jefferson County Attorney Joe Colussi to be present at a few of these meetings(live) Then Mr. Colussi can defend JCBT live instead of these 2nd channels.
Like it or not Will Goering was always present when he was County Attorney.

It should not be thought of as reinventing fire.

It should be looked at as a wake up call and to hold these so called experts accountable.

Ms.Dattilo as an elected counclperson needs to get her priorities straight.

Where is Joe Jenners position on any of this or does he simply not care?

Honestly as a resident of Jefferson County I have No clue why anybody wants to spend time in Madison as a destination.

This is the 21st century, everybody has a smart phone and you heard the fat one in the video say VMI gets thousands of visitors to VMI website.

Folks are getting their visitor information on-line these days, no need for all those dollars wasted and all those employees at VMI when we only need one person who has adjusted to this century.

We need to catch up with the 21 century and stop doing the same things we have been doing for years. The world has changed, Madison has changed. People have changed along with smart phones and on-line information. We need to catch-up with fresh ways of welcoming visitors to our city.

The woman in the corner that was yelling at Commissioner Bramer was just being hateful. He hadn’t done anything wrong. Watch the video. In it one of the board members tries to remind her that she as just elected a month ago a and that the board had to approve minutes so she could take them to the bank to be approved for treasurers access. It was the same problem the last treasurers had. Her name is Nancy Crisp or Nancy Price. I’m not sure. But I know she owns Dugan Hollow Cabins so don’t be sending any of your customers there. I think she also had a BnB downtown. She’s definitely a mean betch and was rude and cruel.

Maybe it's time to convert the tourists office and visitors center into "visitor lounge". If you've been out walking in a city for hours, wouldn't you prefer something that more resembles an airport business-class lounge? A place to put your feet up, access a clean toilet and get some decent Wi-Fi?

What you don't want is for wealthy seniors to feel they need to return to their hotel room for a rest. Better to provide some comfortable chairs so they can made a pit stop, rest their aching feet, and recharge their shopping and sightseeing batteries.

Transition Idea: Maybe it's time to change the goal to encourage visitors recharge so they can continue walking the city, visiting attractions and shopping. A visitor lounge might include things like WiFi, electric power outlets, and recliners, along with the standard amenities like clean toilets.

Or we can spend our dollars on junk yard billboards. Maybe it's time to rethink what we have been doing and how we spend our dollars.

Just wanted to say Thank you to Councilman Curtis Chattham for speaking up for businesses and making sure the community knows that we worked hard during the pandemic and still work hard everyday to make tourism work in Madison. VMI doesn’t do the work, they don’t take the risks. We do!

Jb the comic is so spot on. Sarah Prasil sat there and blew schitz at the JCBT board. She took up almost an hour with her blow hard comments that said nothing except how great she thought she was. I can’t stand even talking with her and have avoided her on those few times I had to go to VMI, which believe it or not was to pay for my overly priced listing in a guide I just found out they mail to people in Chicago and more north. In 12 years of being in business I’ve not had one person from Chicago or Gary. JCBT better find someone new to do their work. I don’t care what the mayor or city council Lucy or Bartlett say. VMI is ridiculous.

People don't come to Madison to visit the visitor center; they come to Madison for an experience.
