A resilient community: For years the Madison Free Press has been talking about the mental and physical health of our local children. Uncle Al and Jane, just would not allow the community to acknowledge such a gigantic thought anywhere in this city or county. Let alone acknowledge homelessness and hunger among those who desperately needed "Our Town" to somehow be kind to a hungry child.

True to their lust for money and political power frame of mind thinking, a child who spends a month on Aunt Suzie's couch, another few weeks with grandma's couch and then maybe in an unfurnished apartment for another month or so while their mother/father worked two jobs in this low wage MIDCOR town. With no permanent home to call their own or a permanent place to sleep and do their school homework; this family and child are homeless and hungry. How stupid can these people be - just because you moved from couch to couch and someone else roof over your head, a PB&J for dinner; you were not homeless and not in need of services...

Along comes the planers who are going to save our city with a great plan for all. I think this is number eight in my time and all these "great plans" are now forgotten and sitting somewhere on a shelf.

Not to be outdone we now have another new plan for the future - 'Resilience' maybe plan number nine or ten.

The goal of this plan, the visionaries, looking to the future see a safe, healthy, and resilient community that thrives. The trouble with this great plan is 'The future is already here – it's just not evenly distributed.'

'Plans are of little importance, but planning is essential.' We all need to plan, to have a plan, but life goes on regardless of our plans and we know only too well what happens to so many of the best laid plans.

….And the truth is (all things considered) TO TRANSFORM OUR COMMUNITY AND THE HEALTH OF FUTURE GENERATIONS - ACTIONS NOT WORDS ON A PAPER(word salad) MUST COME TO LIGHT...

a strategy is nothing but good intentions unless it's effectively implemented.
