A ll about the drug tests and assistant coach:

This one is a little tricky – while on the surface it seems the coach is responsible for selecting her coaching team I am told in that no- there is a list of persons acceptable to the principle and athletic director and that only those names will be considered. Allegedly it is difficult for a coach to request an assistant when administration wants to give the job to someone else. I am also told the assistant coach was a “little buzzed” or “laid back” at different times in the presence of the players and on school property.

What I can confirm is that IKE offers one “Freebie” positive drug test. And that their drug tests include marijuana screening among others. Two positive tests and you are fired. Maybe the coach know her assistant used maybe not. According to the assistant coach the tests were a false positive because he uses CBD oil. On that point, I have no idea why he risked using CBD oil again after the first “false” positive. None the less whatever he continued to do resulted in a second positive and he was terminated. Second, CBD oil doesn’t cause false positives. The chemical in recreational and medical marijuana is THC which is very different than that in legal CBD oil. In all my research I could find only one reference to only one test that had a false negative for CBN which is a related compound. It was an Abbott drug screen and of the entire screens in the nation- it was a one-time positive for CBN. There is no such thing as “off market” CBD oil. There is either legal CBD oil or recreational or medicinal THC/CBD oil. You know what you are getting because you ask for the illegal stuff and you have to have a “friend” or dealer to acquire it. Or you have a medical permit for it. It’s not like CVS has a shelf full of fun stuff we can stroll in and select our choice.

For the person who sent a note and felt the coach should have been referred to treatment and given a second chance. I can tell you – those things happened and he still failed the second test. I have no idea why the head coach would allow his request for contract renewal to move forward. I don’t know if the superintendent will recommend a renewal for his contract but I have my doubts that would happen if only because of school policies. But you never know and in the end the school board has ultimate responsibility. In fairness to the gentlemen- he sent me a message that said exactly this,” Hello Tami, seems to be you have something to say about me. I tried calling you to discuss it if you would like”. He gives his number and name. I responded by calling and leaving a message that I truly would like to hear from him. I got no reply despite the fact people tell me he is a “nice guy”. Tami
